About Mike Toomey

Major League Scout Mike Toomey begins his 30th year in professional baseball in 2009. After serving as head coach at George Washington University from 1975 to 1979, Mike is currently Special Assistant to KC Royals general manager Dayton Moore. His duties include scouting both major league and minor league clubs throughout the season for possible trades to enhance the parent club. Along with that, Toomey assists with the hitting duties at the Latin America Academy in the Dominican Republic as well as scouting and signing players in Colombia. Among his accomplishments, Mike is a member of both the George Washington University and Montgomery College hall of fame. The 1979 George Washington baseball team is the only team in the history of the school to win a game in an NCAA baseball playoff versus Seton Hall. Mike was captain and MVP at both George Washington and Montgomery College in the early 70s.Toomey was recently inducted into the Mid Atlantic Major League Scouts Hall of Fame.
